UPDATE - July 15, 2009

What’s new in the world of ULISES? Many, many things have been goin’ on, some of which I can’t really discuss because they’re “confidential,” but those of which I can talk about, I will. Lol. So I’ve been working nonstop on new music, collaborating with other artist, recording for my 3rd CD, and writing and producing like always. Things are really starting to shape up over here. I feel as if I know what I want to do with this album that I’m workin’ on. The release date may change once again, depending on what happens with some projects, but trust me, it’ll all be for the best if it does change. Remember that in this industry, TIMING IS EVERYTHING.

OTHER FUN FACTS

I recently had the honor of meeting some really cool artists, so I'm gonna start name dropping. Lol. Here we go. I met the Jonas Brothers, Jordin Sparks, Laurie Ann Gibson, Honor Society, & Pimp C's wife (and her publisher) just to name a few. Jordin Sparks is super talented and amazingly beautiful. She's a really down to earth gal and really sweet. She sang Happy Birthday to a little boy in a wheel chair before he left. Laurie Ann Gibson is really short as are the Jonas Brothers, but the thing that I really like the most about Laurie is her energy. She's amazing! K well that's the little scoop of gossip that I had for you guys. =P

All in all, it feels good to feel acknowledged; it motivates me even more. Thank you for believing in me and helping me with my musical career. As always, I appreciate all the support from fans and friends. Be sure to check back in a few weeks. I may have some BIG news comin’ up. =P Either way, send all your positivity and best wishes towards my direction. They’re greatly appreciated.

UPDATE - June 16, 2009

It’s been like two weeks since I last updated my blog here, so here I go:

- RADIO PLAY

I’ve recently submitted my music to various radio stations and people within the music industry and thankfully, I’ve had nothing but great responses. It has actually been picked up by a few radio stations. Whoo!!!

UNPREDICATABLE was added to the www.KUMS.FM lineup.
FEVER will be played on “THE HARVEST” Ramos Radio Saturday night show on www.live365.com 91.3FM in NY; be sure to call in or request by either calling in at 716-878-5104 or via net at WWW.WBNY.ORG
Also submitted my music to some mixtapes so I’m hoping to get some spots on those. =P I’ll definitely keep ya’ll in the loop.

- NEW MUSIC

I’ve been actively workin’ on some new music. Like I previously said, I’m gonna be collaborating with a group of producers from Hawaii who go by the name of DrumCC. They have amazing beats and luckily, I was able to nab some to work on- three to be specific. I’m still workin’ on them and am still trying to finish recording them. Not 100% complete. They’re gonna be really good though, so be on the lookout.

- COMPETITION

As ya’ll know, I’m ALWAYS lookin’ for opportunities to showcase my music. I recently went to Crystals in Arlington to perform and take part in a competition the GO Dj’s were having for local artist. The winner of the competition would win a $250 listening session and a two week promo run worth $2000. Of course I attended and performed. The crowd went crazy and they definitely enjoyed the bangers I was performin’. Unfortunately, I had to leave a little bit early ‘cause I had to go to work early in the morning and thus, couldn’t stay till 2AM to find out who the winner was. The next day I found out that I had actually won, but since I wasn’t there to claim my prize, they had handed the prize to somebody else. Can ya’ll believe that? The one day I can’t stay, and that’s what happens?!?! Man! Any who, I definitely plan on going back once more to get it poppin’ up in that joint. Ha. I GOT to get that prize.

- STADIUM

So I recently began working at the NEW Cowboy’s Stadium and let me just start off by saying that IT’S AMAZING! I had the privilege and honor to work the first event there ever- the GEORGE STRAIT concert featuring Reba Mcentire and others. I’m not a big country fan, but I still managed to take a listen and watch the performers for a few minutes. I must say, they were outstanding. Reba is definitely an amazing entertainer; she knows how to connect with the audience. Her smile, her eyes, her voice- amazing! She put on a great show. George, of course, did great as well. People were dancin’ and havin’ a great ol’ time. Haha. Yee haw! Any who, next concert I’ll be workin’- Jordin Sparks & Jonas Brothers concert. Not a huge fan of the Jonas Brothers, but I must say, I do like Jordan. She has a great voice and is cute too. =P I always enjoy live music, so I’ll always give any type of music a chance. The stage for the second concert should be pretty awesome. Either way, should be interesting’.

- BIRTHDAY

I’ll be turning 23 in about two weeks. Haha. I can’t wait. I’m pretty excited. Thankfully, it falls on a Friday and not during the week (which sucks). I’ll definitely be out partying it up. If ya see me out somewhere, be sure to say WHAT UP!!!

MY OPINIONS - June 16, 2009

- LOCAL SHOWCASES/ OPEN MICS

I’m really selective when it comes to doing local showcases and open mics. I think they’re great when it comes to practicing, getting comfortable on stage, and gaining a little exposure, but to be honest, there comes a point where you begin to see the same people over and over again. Then you begin to wonder what your objectives with these performances are? U notice that the crowd that’s present is compiled of many other local artist from the area who are also trying to make it; they’re pretty much in the same boat as you. There main goal is to get there music heard; they, too, hope that someone will become interested in them and will give them a lending hand to help kick start there musical career. Furthermore, have you noticed that there is always a price to perform? Ten dollars, twenty dollars, twenty five, fifty, etc…U begin to understand how this game works; everyone’s in it to see how they can benefit from it. It’s ALL about money; it’s dirty and it makes one feel sick to the stomach. The truth is, no one really helps you for any reason. Me personally, I feel as if I’m ready to take it to the next level. I’m ready to take my musical career a little further. I want to showcase my music to true music consumers- not other artist who are trying to accomplish similar goals as mine. I don’t want to be stuck in the same spot; I’m done with these parasites that just want to empty your pockets. It’s time to create a good marketing strategy; something that I’ll help expose my music to NEW listeners; time to explore the undiscovered. Time to take control and really do something with my career; my advice to everyone- use your money wisely!!! Be smart about what you’re doing and know what you’re getting out of it. Make sure you get what you’re paying for.

- DFW MUSIC

It all sounds the same; they’re all dances. Do this, do that… it’s boring and stupid. Majority of the Hip-Hop/Rap music coming out of Dallas sucks. For the few that have gotten record deals, good for them. I’m not necessarily lookin’ for that. I think I’m just not your cookie cutter type of artist. I’m more about exploring options and going different routes; I’m about being creative and trying new things. Do people not realize that the MAJOR record labels are not doing so hot right now? INDEPENDENT is precisely the way to go.

I think that in order for the DFW Hip-Hop/R&B/Rap scene to be taken seriously, people are really gonna have to come with it; step there game up. I feel I got the creativity, talent, and drive to excel in my career. I write, sing, produce, and engineer. A lot of these other "artist" do what? I've heard over and over again, "DFW got next," but does it really have next with all these WHACK ass artist. Dj's ya'll need to really get on top of your shit; I can't believe ya'll support a lot of this junk that's out there. Ya'll are just playing it safe. Isn't it time to take a little detour and try something new? I think I can bring the heat to this city; I think I got what it takes. Let the people in the crowd decide; you'll see I'm right.

UPDATE - June 2, 2009

- Dance rehearsals will resume in a few weeks. I’m gonna be choreographing some new dance routines with my back up dancers and hopefully posting videos of us practicing, so u can see what we are truly capable of creating; sometimes it helps to have an image to go along with the music. One of my goals is to bring to life the ideas that go through my mind; in this day in age, it’s not necessary to spend big bucks on a video when one can accomplish the same exact goals with easily accessible tools like a camcorder. This is where creativity kicks into gear. =P

The MTD- NEW Songs - May 15, 2009

THE MTD: NEW SONGS

I’m still in the process of mixing some of the new songs, and I can’t wait till ya’ll hear all of them. THEY R BANANAS!!!!!!!! I’m still putting some final touches on some of these songs and what not. U know I want them to be PERFECT!!! Haha. K well I’ve posted two new tracks: “Make That Booty” & “My Heart is Breaking”. “My Heart is Breaking” is intended to be an R&B song about heartbreak. I had never really specifically addressed this issue and thought it was something I HAD to do since I always tend to focus on just the positive. This time around, I really wanted to attack my music from a different angle. People’s heartbreak stories helped me get an idea as to what it was exactly that I wanted to write about. Hope u like it. “Make that Booty” is just one of those crazy songs that you know everybody I’ll be getting down to in the club. It actually makes me laugh ‘cause it’s really different for me. It’s not like me to say those kind of things. Lol. Any who, I know girls I’ll be dancin’ like crazy to this. =P
